John Lindsey
Founder of Lindsey & Lindsey and The Bold Advisor
Lindsey & Lindsey Wealth Management is, first and foremost, a family business.
Before establishing our company, Founder John Lindsey spent more than 15 years of his financial career working for Edward Jones. He was extremely successful: He became a regional leader for 65 Edward Jones offices across California after building his first office from scratch and served as a general partner from 2001–2006. But everything changed for John when two of his daughters, Christina Lindsey Orta and Alissa Kroeger, entered the financial services field.
A Father’s Dream for His Family
John never pushed his daughters to follow in his footsteps — but the aptitude for investing ran in the family. When Christina and Alissa chose finance, their decisions struck a chord for John. He realized that by leaving Edward Jones and starting a business with his girls, he could build a family legacy and offer his clients an even better investment experience: one built on the tried-and-true conservative practices that he used to manage his own money.
In 2012, John officially broke from Edward Jones and opened Lindsey & Lindsey Wealth Management at 4195 East Thousand Oaks Boulevard, where our office is still located today. It was a proud moment for the Lindsey family — but it didn’t come easily.
The Bold Advisor
The Fight for Our Future
Those early days were full of challenges. Edward Jones refused to let one of their top producers go quietly. They accused John of stealing labels and trade secrets, embroiling him in a legal battle that stretched on for months. It was a last-ditch attempt to prevent his loyal clients ─ some of whom he’d met 15 years before while going door-to-door to build his first office ─ from following him to his new venture.
Fortunately, John is a fighter. He refused to let false accusations stand in the way of his dream. In 2013, his persistence paid off: The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) denied Edward Jones’ multi-million dollar claim against him. That decision backed up a previous superior court ruling, cleared John’s name, and opened the door to Lindsey & Lindsey’s future.*
Loyal to the End
Throughout that legal turmoil, John’s clients never faltered. Many of them reached out to him directly asking to move their business from Edward Jones to Lindsey & Lindsey so that they could continue working together. Ultimately, almost 75% of the assets John managed at Edward Jones remained in his care, showing his clients’ deep level of commitment and trust.
Our whole team is indebted to those first loyal clients: If you’re one of them, thank you for believing in John, our investment philosophy, and our family.

Investing Done Differently
When John founded Lindsey & Lindsey, he was determined to provide his clients with a fully customizable investment experience. Large corporate firms are limited in the number and type of investment options they can offer. As a small family company, we can provide a wide array of choices — including multifamily real estate projects, oil partnerships, and more — to round out our clients’ portfolios.
As John puts it, “Working with us is like looking out over a field with no fences: You can go anywhere you want.”
That isn’t the only thing that sets Lindsey & Lindsey apart. John crafted a conservative investment strategy rooted in the practices that he used to successfully manage his own money and the assets of his clients at Edward Jones. The long-term, high-quality investments we make for our clients are designed to build wealth slowly, steadily, and safely.
Growing the Family
John launched Lindsey & Lindsey in 2012 with help from two branch assistants who followed him from Edward Jones. But he wasn’t the only Lindsey on the team for long. In 2014, John’s oldest daughter, Christina ─ already a Certified Financial Planner™ ─ left corporate finance behind and began working for Lindsey & Lindsey.
Christina quickly proved to be a brilliant advisor and careful investor, following in her father’s footsteps and earning a plethora of certifications, licenses, and designations. In 2018, John’s middle daughter, Alissa, also came on board, bringing nearly a decade of financial planning and investment experience with her.
In all, we’ve grown our team from three members to nearly a dozen. All of our planners, coordinators, and managers are like-minded thinkers. They’re conservative, faithful, and dedicated to doing the right thing.
Passing the Baton
In 2022, after a decade of stewarding Lindsey & Lindsey and mentoring his team and family, John Lindsey stepped back from the company’s day-to-day operations. Christina took over his role as CEO and guided the company and our clients to even greater success. After a year of semi-retirement, John officially retired on January 1, 2024, at age 70.
Today, Christina, Alissa, and Shannon Beahan — a certified financial planner who has been with Lindsey & Lindsey since 2021 — all have ownership in the business.
Lindsey & Lindsey was the culmination of John’s life’s work, and we’re incredibly proud of the legacy he built for Christina, Alissa, Shannon, and our clients. We’re also happy to see him relaxed and thriving in retirement. He keeps busy traveling, serving on the boards of several nonprofit organizations, and enjoying the company of his wife, Karen, who has been by his side for more than four decades.
John feels secure in the knowledge that Christina is taking care of our clients just like he would.
Lindsey Family Values
Though John is no longer the leader of our company, his philosophies still guide us. We’re hard workers, fierce fighters, and conservative investors committed to the highest standards of ethical conduct.
We’re also a family, and we treat our clients like part of that family. We act in their best interests above all else, striving to provide advice that is independent, honest, objective, and trustworthy.
Ultimately, you can sum up our ethos in a single sentence: “Always do what is right – even when no one is looking.”
The John Lindsey legacy is one of strength, stability, and integrity. We hope to carry it on for many generations to come.
